Marlis Timpmann studied at Tartu 2nd Music School with Edda Hvenekilde and Kai Rebane. She graduated of Tallinn Music High School as a student of Aino Riikjärv. In 2007 she received Masters Degree from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre where she studied with prof. Mari Tampere-Bezrodny. She has studied in Conservatory of Giuseppe Verdi in Milan with Daniele Gay and has participated in several masterclasses and summer courses, including of Marianne Boettcher, Sigiswald Kuijken,Keiko Wataya, Petru Munteanu, Anatoli Reznikovsky, Ernst Kovacic, Thomas Füri. She has won several prizes at Estonian Young String Players’ Competition.

Marlis Timpmann has appeared as a soloist with Haapsalu Festival Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra of Estonian Academy of Music and Theater. She has been a member  of Scandinavian Youth Orchestra (Orkester Norden), Baltic Music Academies Association Symphony Orchestra (ABAM), ERASMUS Chamber Orchestra, UNICEF World Youth Orchestra, Jeunesses Musicales, Pärnu Festival Orchestra  and Estonian orchestras such as Pärnu City Orchestra, Tallinn Chamber Orchestra and  Glasperlenspiel Sinfonietta.
