Oratorio The Seasons

The grand finale of ERSO’s jubilee season, conducted by Chief Conductor Olari Elts, presents Joseph Haydn’s oratorio The Seasons. Created in the spirit of the Enlightenment, the work is a hymn to the harmony between humanity and nature. Haydn paints vivid musical pictures of nature and describes the joy of folk festivals and everyday life. The grandmaster also saw the changing seasons as a parallel to the human life cycle: spring symbolizes birth, summer youth, autumn maturity, and winter old age, followed by eternal life. The performance features brilliant soloists and the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir.
