On two autumn days, we invite pupils in Grades 1–4 to embark on a musical adventure at the Estonia Concert Hall. Designed primarily for children, though equally enjoyable for adults, the adventure gives every visitor a chance to get to know the instruments of the orchestra up close and even try making sounds on them themselves.

First, we will divide into smaller groups to explore the different sections of the orchestra, listening to and experimenting with the sounds produced by string, wind and percussion instruments. After this short introduction to the instruments, the orchestra and audience will come together for a concert featuring one of the world’s most famous works for children – Sergei Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf.

For 90 years, this symphonic fairy tale, created to introduce children to the instruments of the orchestra, has been opening the door to the world of music for young listeners. Each character in the story is represented by a particular orchestral instrument, melody and musical personality.
