The concert is organized by Nargenfestival.

A key figure in the development of Arvo Pärt as a composer was undoubtedly his composition teacher, and the teacher of many other Estonian composers, Heino Eller, the founder of an entire school of composition. Eller’s music is often placed in dialogue with Pärt’s at the festival Pärdi Päevad. This time, the focus is on works by teacher and student composed nearly twenty years apart: the Second Symphonies of both composers will be heard side by side, Eller reaching his at the age of sixty, while Pärt composed his at half that age. Alongside the symphonies, conductor Tõnu Kaljuste will present one of Pärt’s rarely performed works, Como cierva sedienta, featuring soprano Maria Listra as soloist for the first time.
