Kristiina Poska, the principal conductor of the Flanders Symphony Orchestra, will perform at the Distant Light concert. Last season, Poska performed with the Latvian National Symphony Orchestra. This season, however, she will perform with ERSO. The soloist is the concertmaster of the orchestra, Triin Ruubel. They will perform Violin Concerto by Pēteris Vasks. The work is dedicated to Gidon Kremer and has become a modern classic.

They will also perform Chordae by Ülo Krigul, which was premiered in 2013 by the Pärnu Festival Orchestra. In the second half of the concert, From the New World, the latest and best-known symphony by Antonín Dvořák, will be performed. The work was composed while Dvořák was living in New York and it is inspired by the local country, people, and music.
