ERSO will celebrate its 100th season with a festive jubilee festival taking place from 13 to 20 November. Audiences can look forward to eight concerts where ERSO’s history, present and future come together.

At the festival’s opening concert on 13 November, ERSO will perform under the baton of maestro Neeme Järvi. Alongside works by Eduard Tubin and Villem Kapp, the programme will also include Joseph Haydn’s spirited Symphony No. 100.

Beautiful moments of chamber music await listeners on 14 November in the MUBA Hall, where ERSO chamber musicians through the ages will take the stage. On 15 November, the orchestra’s newest and youngest members will perform at Kadriorg Palace.

In cooperation with ERR, the festival will also reach the Radio House, ERSO’s former home and rehearsal hall. At the studio concert on 16 November, the programme will feature repertoire that the orchestra performed at its very first appearances almost one hundred years ago.

The concert series “Audio Spa” invites audiences to the newly completed Nature House Taru on 17 November. ERSO musicians will present an intriguing selection of works inspired by nature and birdsong.

The festival culminates in jubilee concerts on 19 and 20 November. Chief Conductor Olari Elts will conduct masterpieces of symphonic music: Lepo Sumera’s Symphony No. 5 and Richard Strauss’s tone poem Thus Spoke Zarathustra. Together with the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, Benjamin Britten’s overture The Building of the House will also be performed – as a reminder that 100-year-old ERSO needs a home of its own.

In addition to the concerts, the festival programme includes the presentation of the jubilee book on 18 November at Rahva Raamat in Viru Keskus. Audiences can also look forward to the ERSO film festival, taking place at Artis cinema over seven Thursdays starting from 24 September.

To celebrate the ERSO 100 festival, a festival pass is available, offering access to six special concerts.
