Janika Lentsius

Janika Lentsius graduated from the Heino Eller Tartu Music School in 1992, where she studied with Lande Lampe-Kits, and from the Estonian Academy of Music in 1996 in the class of Jaan Õun. She later continued her studies in the Master’s programme at the Estonian Academy of Music under the guidance of Matti Helin and participated in flute and chamber music masterclasses, including courses at Villa Musica in Germany and those organised by Jeunesses Musicales.

She gained international orchestral experience as a member of the Jeunesses Musicales World Youth Orchestra. As a member of the ensemble Ekstemporistid, she received a diploma at a contemporary culture competition in Düsseldorf.

Alongside her work with ERSO, Janika Lentsius has been active as a soloist and chamber musician, collaborating with many Estonian performers. She has given the first performances of several works by Estonian composers, including Lepo Sumera’s “Odaliskid” and “Südameasjad”, and Mati Kuulberg’s “Pilk iseendasse” I–III.

In 1998, Janika Lentsius was one of the founding members of the Estonian Flute Society, and she has been a member of the Estonian Association of Professional Musicians since 2005.
