Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten
Piano Concerto No. 3
Symphony No. 7
At the final concert of the ERSO season, the works planned for the concert tour in Great Britain in May will be performed with principal conductor Olari Elts. The programme includes Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten written by Arvo Pärt in 1977, which the orchestra has often performed while on tour, and Symphony No. 7 by the great master of Czech symphonic music, Antonín Dvořák.
Piano Concerto No. 3 by Sergei Rachmaninoff will be performed at the concert by soloist Freddy Kempf. Kempf is a musician with a wide repertoire and a unique reputation who made his debut at the age of 8 in front of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Today, he is a welcome guest in concert halls around the world. His interpretation of Rachmaninoff has been praised for its inner filigree and colossal but perfect weight (The Art Desk).
