ERSO Academy
Estonian National Symphony Orchestra announces an audition for ERSO Academy for season 2025/2026.
The audition will be held on November 20th, 2025 at 10 A.M, at the Estonia Concert Hall, invited are primarily students from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, Tallinn College of Music and Ballet, and Heino Eller Music College. Up to three successful candidates (all playing different instruments) will receive a possibility to participate in the actual orchestra work with us this season.
The academist will be entitled to:
- take part in three concert projects with ERSO (will be reimbursed);
- perform at one preliminary concert (programme promitting) with ERSO musicians (reimbursed);
- receive a personal preparation session with the Group Principal prior to the working week as well as feedback thereafter;
- observe ERSO auditions first-hand to get a grasp of the actual audition proceedings.
Willing candidates that did not procure a spot in ERSO Academy this time, but nevertheless excelled at the audition, will be added to ERSO substitute shortlist.
The audition will be held in two rounds – the video round and the stage round. The list of required repertoire for both is available here:
To apply, please send your application with the link to your video recording to ERSO Youth Programmes Producer Taavi Orro at taavi.orro@erso.ee, with a quoting reference “Academy”, by 20.10.2025 at the latest.
The video recording must be filmed with one camera, the player facing the camera so that also both, the player’s hands and the instrument, can completely be seen throughout. Any postprocessing of the sound or picture is prohibited, all required music should be recorded in one take, with accompaniment. The recording should be sent to us as a link to an unlisted YouTube video.
Invitations to the stage round will be sent to selected candidates by 30.10.2025 the latest.
For the stage round, please prepare one musical piece and orchestral excerpts as follows (woodwinds are not necessarily required to play additional instruments, but are very welcome to do so):
Please bring your own accompanist, ERSO will not provide a pianist for this audition.
