The Thursday lunch concerts will be bringing to the audience the best selection of the Friday night programme.\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The series opens with <\/span><b>T\u00f5nu K\u00f5rvits'<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> new work, Hymns to the Northern Lights. Featuring South Korean piano virtuoso <\/span><b>Yekwon Sunwoo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, the program includes the first movement of <\/span><b>Robert Schumann's<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Cello Concerto (arranged for piano) and a favorite among classical music lovers, <\/span><b>Beethoven's<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Fifth Symphony. <\/span><b>Olari Elts<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> conducts.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\r\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\r\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In November, during ERSO\u2019s centennial jubilee week, maestro <\/span><b>Olari Elts<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> has selected <\/span><b>Richard Strauss'<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> philosophical masterpiece, the symphonic poem Also sprach Zarathustra, for the lunch concert audience.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\r\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\r\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In December, as ERSO prepares for its Austrian tour, the orchestra introduces its tour repertoire to lunch concert listeners. Hungarian musician <\/span><b>Istv\u00e1n V\u00e1rdai<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> performs as the soloist in <\/span><b>Edvard Elgar\u2019s<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> popular and romantic Cello Concerto. Additionally, <\/span><b>Jean<\/b> <b>Sibelius'<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> majestic Second Symphony will be performed.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\r\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\r\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In January, the lunch concert is led by the charming maestro <\/span><b>Giordano Bellincampi<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, a long-time favorite of Estonian audiences. The program features true delights for classical music enthusiasts: <\/span><b>Carl Reinecke\u2019s<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Concerto for Harp and Orchestra, featuring ERSO\u2019s own <\/span><b>Sara D\u2019Amico<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, and <\/span><b>Felix Mendelssohn\u2019s<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> popular Scottish Symphony.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\r\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\r\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Popular works also dominate the second lunch concert in January. The program features <\/span><b>Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart\u2019s<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> most beloved orchestral works\u2014Symphony No. 40 and Sinfonia Concertante\u2014where conductor and violin soloist <\/span><b>Candida Thompson<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> performs alongside the young Estonian violinist <\/span><b>Triinu Piirsalu<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. The concert opens with the first movement of <\/span><b>Igor Stravinsky\u2019s<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> characterful Concerto in D for String Orchestra.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\r\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\r\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In March, audiences can hear <\/span><b>Antonin Dvo\u0159\u00e1k\u2019s<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> monumental Cello Concerto performed by ERSO\u2019s principal cellist <\/span><b>Indrek Leivategija<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, conducted by the Dutch maestro <\/span><b>Marc Albrecht<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\r\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\r\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In April, the soloist for <\/span><b>Fryderyk Chopin\u2019s<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> Piano Concerto No. 2 is the young pianist <\/span><b>Havryil Sydoryk<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, winner of last year\u2019s \"Classical Stars\" (Klassikat\u00e4hed) competition. The program also includes <\/span><b>Claude Debussy\u2019s<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> enchanting symphonic work La mer. <\/span><b>Bas<\/b> <b>Wiegers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> conducts.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\r\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\r\n<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">To conclude the series in May, ERSO and chief conductor <\/span><b>Olari Elts<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> invite listeners to experience the most beautiful excerpts from <\/span><b>Joseph Haydn\u2019s<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> oratorio The Seasons.
