To give the audience a virtual image of the Estonia Concert Hall, musicians will perform in different areas of the building,\u201d the orchestra said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The orchestra originally premiered four of the six symphonies by Lepo Sumera: the first conducted by Vitali Katayev (1981), the second by Peeter Lilje (1984), the third by Paul M\u00e4gi (1988), and the sixth by Arvo Volmer (2000). The premiers of the fourth and fifth symphonies were performed, respectively, by Badische Staatskapelle and Eri Klas in Karlsruhe (1994), and by the Malm\u00f6 Symphony Orchestra and Paavo J\u00e4rvi in Malm\u00f6 (1997); both symphonies have also been performed by ERSO.<\/p>\n<h3>A charismatic character<\/h3>\n<p>The Estonian National Symphony Orchestra said Sumera (8 May 1950 \u2013 2 June 2000) was \u201ca charismatic character\u201d; \u201cthe main axis of his rich creation\u201d was the symphony orchestra and the pillars of his creation were his six symphonies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn orchestra can epitomise grand ideas and broad arches, the colours of an orchestra can portray worlds outside of music and make the audience forget that they are listening to an orchestra or even simply music,\u201d Kadri-Ann Sumera, Lepo\u2019s daughter, added in a statement, describing his father\u2019s love for orchestras.<\/p>\n<p>Lepo Sumera also composed chamber, vocal, theatre and film music. He taught classic composition in the Estonian Academy of Music. From 1990\u20131992, he was the country\u2019s culture minister, and from 1993\u20132000, the chairman of the Estonian Composers\u2019 Union.
