The title brings forth associations with the famous Miles Davis’ record “In a Silent Way” (1969), and we can find in the composition by Kõrvits parallels due to its lyrical and meditative, improvisation-like part for the soloist. In the second part of the work, “Sacred River”, the composer uses an Estonian Swedish religious folk tune, but places it in an exotic environment – perhaps an Oriental milieu or the music of towns by Mississippi – which Kõrvits is really drawn to.” (Kristel Pappel. READ MORE)

One-man-horn-quartet: ENSO Principal Horn Ye Pan.

Johannes Hiob. Symphonic fantasy “Fathers’ Land” (“Isade maa”, 1940, premiere)

Recorded: September 13, 2019, Estonia Concert Hall (Season Opening Concert)

Estonian National Symphony Orchestra
Conductor NEEME JÄRVI

Ludwig van Beethoven. Fantasy for Piano, Chorus, and Orchestra, Op. 80
Recorded: November 4, 2016 (concert dedicated to 60th birthday of Kalle Randalu)

KALLE RANDALU piano
Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir
Estonian National Symphony Orchestra
Conductor NEEME JÄRVI

Ludwig van Beethoven. Piano Concerto No 5 in E flat Major, Op. 73 “Emperor”

Recorded: May 4, 2012, Estonia Concert Hall (Final Concert of the Season)

KALLE RANDALU piano
Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir
Estonian National Symphony Orchestra
Conductor NEEME JÄRVI

[88

post-5046","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-news-reviews
["GET
