ENSO\u2019s 90th season includes six diverse concert series:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>In the opening concert of the season, the orchestra will be joined on stage by Leif Segerstam\u00a0and the violists of the Zemtsov family; a gala concert will be held to celebrate the 55th anniversary of Tallinn Music High School; and the series will also feature two monumental orchestral masterpieces: Mahler\u2019s and Dvor\u030c\u00e1k\u2019s ninth symphonies.<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>The anniversary season concerts will be conducted by Neeme J\u00e4rvi and by the orchestra\u2019s former principal conductors \u2013 Arvo Volmer and Nikolai Alekseev. The last concert of the series is dedicated to the 100th birthday of ENSO\u2019s former long-time principal conductor, Roman Matsov. A benefit concert will be held to support the education and interest-based activities of the children of the deceased or disabled military service members.<\/p>\n

The first concert of the series is dedicated to the 85th birthday of the Russian composer, Sofia Gubaidulina. Three of the concerts will feature music by Brahms, and the series will come to an end with a celebration of the 130th birthday of Heino Eller, a great figure in Estonian music. Triple Concerto is the final concert of the series, showcasing the winners of the \u201cClassical Stars\u201d competition.<\/p>\n

Music of the Future is this season\u2019s fresh and experimental concert series for those who have a special interest in modern culture. Premieres, new arrangements, a DJ and a symphony, alternative energy and dark dreams, the International Modern Music Festival AFEKT and the Estonian Music Days – music of the future reaches its audience though the guidance of Kristiina Poska, Kristjan J\u00e4rvi, Olari Elts and Michael Wendeberg. The arts are alive!<\/p>\n

\n<\/strong>The series begins with a concert \u201cTallinn \u2013> Beijing\u201d, which sends ENSO off along with Kristjan J\u00e4rvi on their first tour of China. In addition, the fifth symphonies by both Shostakovich and Prokofiev will be performed, the winner of ENSO\u2019s Special Prize in \u201cClassical Stars\u201d competition, pianist Kristiina Rokashevich, will appear as a soloist with the orchestra, and as a slightly unexpected digression for a symphony orchestra one of the programmes will explore music of the Baroque era.<\/p>\n
