She began\u00a0playing the clarinet at the age of twelve. Soo-Young Lee holds a Bachelor of music degree with <em>summa\u00a0cum laude<\/em> from the Seoul National University studying with Dong-Jin Kim, a Master of Music\u00a0degree with distinction from the School of Music und Performing Arts in Graz studying with Prof.\u00a0Stefan Schilling\u00a0and Konzertexamen degree\u00a0from Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik in\u00a0Detmold studying with Prof. Thomas Lindhorst.<\/p>\n<p>During her studies she participated in Mahler\u00a0Chamber Orchestra Academy and Luzern Festival with Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra. She has\u00a0performed as soloist with Member of Bielefelder Philharmoniker\u00a0and Northwestdeutsche Philharmonie Herford, Rumania National Orchestra,\u00a0Wiener Koreanische Philharmonie, Korean Philharmonic Orchestra and\u00a0Seoul Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, and also performed as chamber music and orchestra player at\u00a0international music festivals in Seoul, New York, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain, Norway\u00a0and Estonia. She won the 1st prize in Woohyun Wind Instrument Competition in\u00a0Seoul (2005), the special prize in the 3rd International Woodwind and\u00a0Percussion Competition at Moscow Conservatory (2011), and the 1st prize in Alumni-\/AStA\u00a0Interpretation Competition at Hochschule f\u00fcr Musik Detmold (2013).<\/p>\n<p>She has been invited to\u00a0International Musik Competition ARD, the Carl Nielsen International Clarinet Competition, the\u00a0International Instrumental Competition in Markneukirchen and Prague Spring International Music\u00a0Competition. She is a current member of Detmold\u00a0Chamber orchestra and collaborates with New Theatre Ensemble\u00a0in\u00a0Tallinn.
